ABBYY FineReader offers a functionality which is ideal for a variety of tasks such as storing contracts, legal documents and files, inputting financial records and price lists, archiving articles, books, bank statements and publishing to HTML Web pages, or creating downloadable PDFs. ABBYY FineReader processes many pages of data in a fraction of the time that is usually spent typing and formatting files or correcting files.
Since the launch of FineReader 4.0 in 1998 ABBYY OCR products have received more than 70 awards from influential IT magazines worldwide.
NOTE: Russian and other Cyrillic languages are NOT included in the standard Professional package. If you wish to recognize the latter, please select the ABBYY FineReader Cyrillic version from the previous page. The Cyrillic version is not available electronically and requires both a CD-Rom drive and a floppy disk drive for installation.

ABBYY FineReader delivers unprecedented recognition accuracy based on its unique IPA Technology. Designed to intelligently read and extract the data from documents, IPA is based on observations of human and animal behavior -first proposing hypotheses of images and then purposefully verifying them. Like a human, FineReader examines elements and relationships and learns to recognize elements in an image more accurately.
The newest "intelligent background filtering" technologies from ABBYY "tune" the OCR process by filtering and separating key pieces of data and text from background color, graphics, pictures, and other images on the page. As a result, ABBYY delivers superior accuracy.

ABBYY FineReader is the international OCR software. It recognizes 122 languages (or 177 in the Cyrillic Plus version).

MS Windows Explorer Integration
For users who do a lot of work from within the browser window - FineReader makes it easy to add image files directly to a FineReader batch from Windows Explorer.

Multicolumn WYSIWYG Text Editor
New in FineReader 6.0 is a multicolumn WYSIWYG full text editor. This feature makes it easy to view the full layout of the scanned document while editing, so that users can quickly check the file before sending or exporting it.

Enhanced Image Storage Features
FineReader gives users the flexibility to change the compression ratio or resolution of pictures when saving to PDF, HTML, DOC and RTF formats.

Customizable Toolbars
